About us

Cowichan Cat Rescue is a federally registered charity operated by a board of trustees and a group of volunteers dedicated to improving life for feral cats in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

Our territory stretches from Malahat to Chemainus. The feral cat work within this range keeps us very busy. Accepting tame cats is not within our scope (except if the cat was adopted out from CCR originally, in which case its tattoo would be in our files). We hope people with concerns regarding tame cats will take those concerns to organizations whose purview is helping tame cats.

Cowichan Cat Rescue (CCR) has three core programs:

  • Trap-Neuter-Return Program (TNR Program)
  • Foster Care Program
  • Barn Cat Program

Our three core programs are entirely supported by donations, our kitten adoption fees, and fundraising efforts. These programs receive no government funding. It is volunteer work that runs our charity. We have no paid positions.

When funds allow, we run a low-income spay and neuter program for people living below the official poverty line. That is the only part of our work that might receive funding from local government.

Our charitable registration number (BN) is: 867069957RR0001
